AI is changing how businesses work. Tools are faster. Content is easier to make. Data is everywhere.

But here’s the truth: the foundations of branding and business never change. No matter how advanced the tools, people are still people.


I've been reading Morgan Housel's book called "Same as Ever". It presents the idea of what doesn't change over time. Certain behavior and drives will remain the same.


Snickers the candybar brand remains the most popular candy since 1962.

In 2009, following the global economic collapse, a friend of Warren Buffett asked him, "How does the economy bounce back from this?"

Warren said, "Do you know what the bestselling candy bar was in 1962?"

"No," said his friend.

"Snickers," Warren replied. "And do you know what the bestselling candy bar is today?"

"Nope"

"Snickers."


This little interaction between Warren Buffett and his friend demonstrates the idea that some things remain the same. While most entrepreneurs get caught up in the excitement of how the future will change, the magic lies in what remains the same. What will remain the same even as technology evolves?


Right now, the trending topic is AI. How will AI change the future? How will jobs and employment change? What industries will AI impact the most and least? How is marketing and branding being impacted by AI? Cool and fun questions to ask but what more important is what will not change as a consequence of AI?

Human desires, dreams, hopes, and needs are presented in a brand mark that aligns with Psy Spark.

Here's my conclusion, the "how" of things will change but not the driving forces. For example, people will still crave love, connection, meaning, and purpose. The drives will always be there. But the "how" may change. AI chatbots, digital girlfriends and boyfriends, sex robots, echo-chamber forums, who knows "how" things will change in the future. How will AI fulfill core desires and motivations is debatable. But the core desires remain the same.


So, I asked chatGPT, "what do you predict will not change as consequence of AI in regards to marketing and branding?" Following are the 10 timeless principles of branding and business.
